and Industry'
The latest UKFN photo/video competition continues to accept entries on
the theme of 'FLUID DYNAMICS FOR SOCIETY AND INDUSTRY'. If you would
like the chance to win £200, send us your photos and videos by the
closing date of 31/07/21. Go to the Competitions section of

B. MEMBER MESSAGES

FROM: Henry Burridge, Imperial College London, 16/7/21
SUBJECT: Breathing City - Survey on the impact of ventilation on energy,
comfort and air quality
The 'Future Urban Ventilation Network: The Breathing City' invite you to
participate in a short online survey [2]. This aims to understand what
experts consider typical ventilation provision in a range of settings,
and the resulting impact on energy, comfort and air quality. By
completing the survey you will help identify areas of consensus amongst
experts and areas of uncertainty, thereby assisting the direction of
future work in the field of building ventilation. The background of this
survey is that the Future Urban Ventilation Network is a UK Research &
Innovation funded research network of UK researchers and practitioners
developing a new "Breathing City" methodology to manage exposure to air
pollution by considering airflows between indoor and outdoor
environments.

FROM: Sophy Bristow, TAPAS Network Manager, 12/07/21
SUBJECT: Funding call: Applications open for TAPAS (Tackling Air
Pollution at School) Collaboration Building Workshop
This event will be held online, making it accessible to a wider range of
participants and reducing our air pollution and carbon footprint. We
encourage applications from a broad interdisciplinary community and from
diverse backgrounds. Attendance at the workshop is open to TAPAS network
members and those outside the network who share our ambition to tackle
air pollution at school. We welcome applications from academics, as well
as those from industry, education, local and national policy and the
third sector. The workshop will address the following question: _"HOW
CAN WE DELIVER TIMELY AND EFFECTIVE INTERVENTIONS TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY
AT SCHOOL?" _The facilitated process focusses on collaboration, not
competition. Scoping study/small research project funds will be awarded
to successful teams at the end of the workshop. THERE ARE UP TO FIVE
POTS OF MAXIMUM £8,000 TO BE AWARDED TO INNOVATIVE PROPOSALS FOR
RESEARCH. Full details of the workshop, including a detailed agenda and
application form are available on the TAPAS website. If you have any
questions about the workshop, please email Sophy Bristow.
