FROM: Christopher Ness, University of Edinburgh, 21/09/2023
SUBJECT: Dense suspensions of non-spheres at APS March Meeting 2024
DATE & LOCATION: 3-8 March 2024, Minneapolis
DETAILS: The physics of model non-Brownian suspensions has been
transformed in the last decade by the establishment of the
rate-independent rheology by Boyer et al. [PRL 107:188301 (2011)], and
the incorporation of rate-dependence through stress-controlled
microscopic constraints [PRL 121:128001 (2018)]. However, it is only now
that this insight is being applied to real world engineering and
geophysical suspensions, in which particles are angular, elongated,
fibrous, rod-like, and numerous other shapes. This session will gather
together researchers aiming to answer the question: To what extent does
our new understanding of the physics of spherical particles map to these
more complex systems? Links: March Meeting 2024 [9]; abstract
submissions [10]. The submission deadline is 20/10/2023. When submitting
your abstract, choose the DSOFT option, then category 02.01.04.
